“Advancing EOP Prediction Using Machine Learning – Insights from the New EOP Prediction Comparison Campaign Dedicated to ML-Based Approaches (EOP PML)”

 

📌 About the Talk

Since 2021, the Second Earth Orientation Parameters Prediction Comparison Campaign (2nd EOP PCC) has been assessing EOP forecasting methods under the auspices of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS). To further explore the potential of ML in this field, the EOP PCC Office at CBK PAN has launched a dedicated sub-campaign—EOP PML—to rigorously evaluate ML-based prediction techniques.

 

This talk will provide:

✅ An overview of the 2nd EOP PCC and its key findings.

✅ Insights into the EOP PML sub-campaign and its objectives.

✅ Initial results showcasing the potential of ML-based EOP forecasts.

✅ How researchers and institutions can join the EOP PML initiative and contribute.

 

The EOP PML sub-campaign applies stricter guidelines to ensure an objective evaluation of ML models, making it an excellent opportunity for experts in geodesy, AI, and Earth science to collaborate and improve EOP prediction methodologies.
